Simeon Preston

Group Chief Operations Officer, AIA Group

Simeon Preston is the Group Chief Operations Officer responsible at the Group level for technology and operations. He is a director of various companies within the Group. He joined the Group in September 2010 and is based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining the Group, Mr. Preston served as a senior partner in the financial services practice of global management consultants Bain & Company, where he specialised in the Asia life insurance sector. He previously spent almost nine years with strategy consulting firm Marakon Associates in Europe, the US and Asia, and was named a partner in 2006.

Mr. Preston holds an MBA with distinction from INSEAD in France and Masters of Science degrees from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Leicester University in the UK. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the London School of Economics.

Steve Monaghan

Head of AIA Edge (Group Innovation), AIA Group

Originally a commercial pilot, Steve has held a number of senior corporate and banking roles in product, marketing, operations and general management. He has worked for a number of leading corporations and financial institutions including Dell, Compaq, Citigroup, OCBC, Shinsei and DBS Bank. Throughout his career, Steve has specialized in introducing new business models, businesses and products in all major markets in Asia and has filed 6 patents.

Steve was on the startup team for Dell Computer, introducing Dell’s consumer business to Asia. Later he developed and executed the branded manufacturing and retail model catapulting Compaq to number one in the Indian consumer market. In banking Steve developed and patented the first mobile payments platform for Citigroup, developed a Consumer Finance Division for OCBC and lead the retail bank turnaround of Shinsei Bank in Japan growing revenues USD$500M, deposits 25% and improving net income by USD$100M during a 9 month transformation. As Chief Innovation Officer for DBS Bank, Steve drove the innovation agenda focused on Intelligence, Big Data and Social culminating in the $220+M investment of DBS in IBM Watson, DBS A*Star R&D Lab and Digital Banking.

Steve is a frequent presenter and lecturer around the world on subjects including Innovation, banking, Working Capital, M&A and Investing in China. He co-authored a five year China IPO study and has been frequently published on topics including Working Capital, Investing in China and Capital Collaboration. Steve holds an EMBA with ‘first in class academic standing’ from the Helsinki School of Economics.

Michelle Sun

CEO, First Code Academy

Born and raised in Hong Kong and graduated from University of Chicago, First Code Academy’s founder Michelle Sun started her career at Goldman Sachs as a technology analyst. Soon, she discovered her passion in technology and launched her first startup. While the venture did not succeed, she learned a lot from the experience. One of the key lessons she learned is the importance of understanding the technical aspects which led her to teach herself to code.

She then moved to Silicon Valley to work in startups including Bump Technologies (acquired by Google in 2013) and Buffer. There she also began teaching kids how to code. Upon returning to Asia in 2013, she set out to bring to students in her hometown and in the Asia Pacific Region the mindset of creative problem solving through programming.

She received international and regional accolades including the BBC 30 Under 30 Women Entrepreneurs in 2015, Women of Hope Award (Entrepreneur Category 2015) and (Tech Category 2014) and American Chambers Women of Influence Awards (Young Entrepreneur Category 2015).

Jimmy Chiang

Associate Director-General, Invest Hong Kong

Dr Jimmy Chiang is Associate Director-General of Invest Hong Kong, the government department responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign direct investment into Hong Kong. He joined Invest Hong Kong in August 2003 and was promoted to Head of Tourism and Hospitality in September 2010. He took up the ADG position in April 2015, in which he oversees the Department’s investment promotion strategies in the areas of Creative Industries, Consumer Products, Transport and Industrial, Tourism and Hospitality and Business and Professional Services.

Jennifer Carver

Chief Investment Officer, Nest.vc

Jennifer has over 27 years of experience in asset management, investment advisory and technology in HK with, among others CLSA, Fortis and Indosuez. A serial entrepreneur, she has launched, managed and sold an investment advisory firm and fund of hedge funds. She also lead an investment team in a number of successful internet startups for Chinadotcom from 1999-2000. In 2005, she was named one of the finalists for The HK Business Woman of the Year award and currently sits on numerous technology and investment company boards.

Andy Liu

Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization Vice Chairman

Mr. Andy A. Liu has served as President of Asia Pacific and China for IMS Health, a TPG private equity portfolio company focusing on big data healthcare that went IPO in 2014. Mr. Liu was responsible for managing the P&L and entire business in the region inclusive of 17 countries including China, Australia, India, South Korea, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

He has also previously served as Vice President of Strategy & Business Development for Asia Pacific, China and Japan for IMS Health where he was responsible for leading all M&A, investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, due diligence, deal transactions and partnerships in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Liu's area of focus is commercialisation and M&A. He has extensive experience in healthcare big data, healthcare technologies, biotech/pharmaceuticals, regulatory approval, product launches, deal terms and mergers and aquisitions . He has successfully managed and launched products across key therapeutic franchises such as hypertension, atherosclerosis, anticonvulsants, arthritis, antihistamine, osteoporosis and diabetes.

Mr. Liu has extensive pharmaceutical and biotech industry experience working across various multinational companies. Previously, he served as Vice President of Strategy and Operations for Moksha8, also a TPG portfolio company. Mr. Liu has also spent many years with Merck and UCB holding several executive management and leadership positions. Mr. Liu has served on several Boards including The American Chamber of Commerce, The European Chamber of Commerce and The International Research-Based Pharmaceutical Association.

Peter Dingle

Director of Accelerator Programmes, Nest.vc

Peter has 15+ years of sales and marketing experience at Intel, building a multi billion dollar brand across 12 markets in Asia. He has managed multi-country product and brand campaigns, built social media communities, and developed large scale mobile projects including the challenge of growing market share in tablets. Peter brings with him a deep understanding of how emerging markets respond online, and understands the best technologies for maximum effectiveness. Dingle completed his MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business Asia and was presented the Ivey Scholar Award for outstanding academic achievement in 2014.

Alyssa Aaron

Director of Investments, Nest.vc

Alyssa was previously an investment analyst at Conversus Capital, where she focused on evaluating private equity direct investments and secondaries. Prior to that, she was with Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Chicago. Alyssa returns to Hong Kong to join Nest where she will be responsible for the due diligence process around new investments. She received a BS in Finance and International Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Natalie Siu

Associate Director, Kreab

Natalie is an Associate Director at Kreab Hong Kong and brings seven years of financial communications expertise. She has extensive experience, both from in-house and agency, in representing insurance companies, professional services firms and financial institutions as well as asset managers, private equity firms and banks. Prior to joining Kreab, Natalie was Group Corporate Communications Manager at AIA Group Limited, responsible for media relations, thought leadership and the Group’s social media presence. Before AIA, she worked at Edelman Hong Kong’s Financial Communications practice and Zurich Insurance’s corporate communications team.

Natalie also has a media background in documentary production and content development at Radio Television Hong Kong.

Annette Yeung

Associate Director, Group Brand & Marketing, AIA Group

Annette is a communications specialist with a background of working with some of Hong Kong’s most respected brands including MTR, Kodak, Swire and the AIA Group.

Annette works within the Group Marketing function where she is responsible for the development and implementation of communications in support of the AIA brand proposition. Her key role is to develop communications strategy to ensure common and coherent messages across the organisation. Annette is also responsible for activating sponsorship properties across AIA.

Born in Hong Kong, Annette is a committed shopper and Facebooker! She has a passion for playing piano, guitar and drums and holds a qualification in wine tasting and interior design. She is a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) at The University of British Columbia, Canada.
